Julie McLaughlin

It seems like a thousand years ago, but a few years back I had the great pleasure of meeting Ms. Julie McLaughlin. The meeting was quick and she soon after left Calgary for the great Montreal area, and it was around this time that I actually found out about her mesmorizing work. This gal is one talented illustrator!! Her work has graced magazine, newspapers, books and gig posters to name only a few. Her beautiful style utilizes aspects of water colour and collage to creat a very innocent (though haunting) sense.

Her work can be view at her blog http://www.whatwouldjuliedraw.com/index.php?/illustration/spots/

Lisa Sandall

I am totally in love with the furniture designed by Lisa Sandall right now. In particular the "chin up" storage unit. Although bending over to take a gander at my books gives me a great opportunity to see what cat toys have made their way under my shelves, I love this notion of taking away the hunching over to see what is stored in your shelves.
Lisa is working out of the UK right now and I highly suggest you take a look at her work. The best link I have found to her work can be viewed here:

The Beginnings

I think I can safely say, for both Gillian and I, that we love design. Design is one of those beautiful, holistic entities that encompasses all that is beautiful and smart. From furniture design to floral arrangements, from typography to brilliant jewellery, design leads us to great places. This blog will seek out and explore all aspects of design.
